its an open-wide; wide-open
jump right in, gun-smoking
choose-your-path-in-life
kinda year
its time to grow down, settle up
decide whats right, hope its enough
three giant steps forward, one-half more back
moving onward, off the track
no more of aching heart, heavy chest
no more of damsel in distress
eat your heart out lois lane
you too, wendy, mary jane
im back and im strong
im still young and im moving on

Your opening stanza is gripping, and the rest of the poem continues to deliver.
I like it!

"the body is the vehicle, bound by time.
the mind is the mechanics, bound by logic.
the soul is the part from the whole attempting to be an individual.
and the spirit is what remains of the bond shared before there was time."
